RRB ALP Syllabus 2026

The RRB ALP 2026 selection process includes CBT-1, CBT-2, CBAT, Document Verification, and Medical Examination. The detailed exam pattern and syllabus are prescribed in CEN 01/2026.

Total Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes | Total Questions: 175 | Negative Marking: 1/3 mark for each wrong answer.

Only Part-A marks are counted for further shortlisting, provided the candidate secures at least 35% in Part-B.


CBT-2 Syllabus

Part-A

  • Mathematics
  • General Intelligence and Reasoning
  • Basic Science and Engineering

Basic Science and Engineering broadly includes engineering drawing, units and measurements, mass, weight and density, work, power and energy, speed and velocity, heat and temperature, basic electricity, levers and simple machines, occupational safety and health, environment education, and IT literacy.

Part-B

Part-B is qualifying in nature and contains trade-based questions according to the candidate's ITI / apprenticeship / diploma / degree background.

  • Electrical stream choices include Electrician, Instrument Mechanic, Wireman, Armature & Coil Winder, and Refrigeration & Air-Conditioning Mechanic.
  • Electronics stream choices include Electronics Mechanic and Mechanic (Radio & TV).
  • Mechanical stream choices include Fitter, Mechanic (Motor Vehicle), Tractor Mechanic, Mechanic (Diesel), Turner, Machinist, Heat Engine, Millwright / Maintenance Mechanic, and Refrigeration & Air-Conditioning Mechanic.
  • Automobile stream choices include Mechanic (Motor Vehicle), Tractor Mechanic, Mechanic (Diesel), Heat Engine, and Refrigeration & Air-Conditioning Mechanic.

CBAT and Final Merit

  • CBAT is conducted only for candidates shortlisted after CBT-2.
  • There is no negative marking in CBAT.
  • Candidates must secure a minimum T-score of 42 in each test battery separately.
  • Final merit is prepared by giving 50% weightage to Part-A of CBT-2 and 50% weightage to CBAT.
