RRB Group D Eligibility Criteria 2026

Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) have released the CEN 09/2025 notification for recruitment to Level-1 posts (Group D) in Indian Railways. Candidates must satisfy the prescribed eligibility conditions related to age, educational qualification, and nationality.

Age Relaxation

Relaxation in upper age limit / maximum age is applicable to the following categories subject to submission of valid certificates:

  • If eligible for more than one age relaxation, the candidate will get the maximum relaxation applicable (not cumulative).
  • SC, ST & OBC (NCL) candidates applying against UR vacancies will not be eligible for age relaxation.
  • PwBD candidates applying against UR vacancies will be allowed PwBD (UR) relaxation only, subject to suitability.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess one of the following qualifications:

  • 10th Pass (Matriculation) OR
  • ITI from institutions recognized by NCVT / SCVT OR
  • National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC)

Candidates awaiting results of the qualifying examination are not eligible to apply.

Additional Eligibility Requirements

A candidate must belong to one of the following categories:

  1. A citizen of India, or
  2. A citizen of Nepal, or
  3. A subject of Bhutan, or
  4. A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 01.01.1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
  5. A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Candidates belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) and (v) must possess a Certificate of Eligibility issued by the Government of India.

Such candidates may be admitted to the examination provisionally. However, the Certificate of Eligibility must be produced during Document Verification, failing which the candidature will be rejected.
